Union Springs Telephone Co. Inc.

The Union Springs Telephone Company, a privately owned utility, serves over 1,800 customers within the city of Union Springs and almost the entire population of the county. The company provides high-speed fiber service including voice, video and data services.  Within the city and in parts of the county, the following services are available: DSL internet, POP, FIBER OPTICS internet, MOBILE SERVICE.

WATER

The city of Union Springs is supplied by 4 wells (well source: Deep Wells) with a daily consumption in 2001 of 1,759,000 gallons. Daily consumption max is 2,550,000 gallons. The Utilities Board reports that storage capacity is 1.35 million gallons.

GAS

Southern natural gas is supplied by the Union Springs Utility Board. Sewage treatment for Union Springs is a trickier filter with capacity of 750,00 gallons daily, as well as activated sludge with a capacity of 1.5 million gallons a day. Over 280 acres the LAS (land application site) sprays at a maximum of 1.5 million gallons a day. This acreage is now planted in pine trees.

WASTE

Bullock County residents /industry/business must have individual septic systems. Solid waste disposal is contracted in the city by Waste Management, Inc. The County provides solid waste service to county residents. Sewage treatment for Midway is a lagoon sewage system.

Television / Radio

Union Springs has a local cable channel, TV-23, that provides community updates and specials focusing on the people and places in and around Union Springs. Cable television is available around the city through Union Springs Telephone Company.  Various satellite providers are also available, including Dish Network and DirecTV.  Radio reception available from all area wide stations.
