Since law enforcement is limited to the number of officers on the street any given time -- it becomes essential for citizens to report crimes they witness.
Understanding that some people may not want to reveal themselves, the CrimeStoppers program makes it easy to anonymously report information and help reduce crime in our neighborhoods.
When someone calls CrimeStoppers, they will be asked questions pertaining to the crime given a caller number. The number is used to call back at a designated time to find our if law enforcement was able to act on the report and arrest a suspect. The person may then be able to collect a reward - if one has been offered. Again callers are only known by a number and arrangements are made for you pick up your reward without anyone knowing who made the report.
All persons working with the CrimeStoppers program sign a confidentially statement stating they will not reveal any information concerning the crimes or identity of the reporting citizens.
Fundraiser for the Multipurpose Dog
The Union Springs/Bullock County CrimeStoppers, Inc. is greatly concerned with the effect of illegal drugs and the resulting criminal activity it has on Bullock County citizens; particularly the population of youth in our County. To substantiate this claim, Judge Burt Smithart and Sheriff Raymond Rodgers have acknowledged that ninety-seven percent (97%) of all crimes committed in Bullock County are directly related to illegal drug activity.
CrimeStoppers members and Judicial Officials are working judiciously to lessen the effect of illegal drugs in our County by delivering several of planned projects as follows: Community Meetings, establishing a Scholastic CrimeStoppers program at the High School, conducting youth educational programs and the reestablishment of "D. A. R. E.", a school program by the city police department.
Additionally, Sheriff Raymond Rodgers has been working to establish the Bullock County Tactical Unit, with a Multipurpose Dog being the top priority at this time. Sheriff Rodgers has selected Deputy Chad Faulkner as the Sheriff's Department Bullock County Tactical Unit lead officer and Deputy Josh Powell to be the Dog handler with Judge Burt Smithart, Judge Teresa Daniel, and D. A. Ben Reeves lending their support.
CrimeStoppers has taken the lead to raise funds for the Multipurpose Dog since funds for the Sheriff's department is limited; however grants and other funding opportunities are being sought for the program.
We want to make Union Springs/Bullock County a safe place to live and raise our children and this can only be done through the collaborative effort of our citizens, churches, and businesses. Please help us make this Project successful, which will restore, revitalize and reweave the social fabric of our community that this project will succeed Union Springs/Bullock County.
CrimeStoppers, Inc. a 501(c) 3 organization was incorporated December 5, 2006.
