I was born in a small community outside of Troy, AL. My parents were farmers. I am the second youngest of seven children and am now the only survivor of those seven. Unfortunately, I did not finish high school and this I do regret, because I know that it is important to have a good education. However I have always been a big dreamer. With each passing year my dreams became bigger and bigger.
One of my dreams was to someday own my own business. I had worked on various jobs and most of these jobs were not very fulfilling. I wanted to do more than just work on a job; I wanted to make a difference. In 1984 my dream became a reality. I opened my first day care center in Troy, AL. The day care was closed. In 1994, I remarried and moved to Union Springs. I started working at Southern Springs Nursing facility. Once again I began dreaming about owning my own business. In 1995, I opened my second day care center. The day care was a real asset to the community. We kept the day care open for 8 years, often open 24/7. While working at Southern Springs in 1994, I met a christian lady and we immediately became friends. The next year my friend invited me to a Women's Conference. The things I saw and heard at this conference really impressed me and gave me more ideas. I came from the conference charged up and full of energy. I started a women's conference, we had a few meetings but the conference did not take off like I had hoped. I continued to pray and ask God for help and directions on how to put this plan together for the conference. I started to meet some good people that would prove to be a real blessing to me and this organization.
In December 2006, Dynamic Women's Leadership Development, Inc. was founded. We are dedicated to the community of Union Springs and surrounding communities. We know that it will take a lot of work but we are confident that together we can be successful in helping our communities and its citizens to be the best they can be.
Dynamic Women's Leadership Development, Inc. is a non-profit Alabama based organization. We promote health and wellness to our citizens. Exercise, health eating habits, awareness and prevention. We offer tutoring for our children, community outreach programs, mentoring programs, literacy programs, computer program, youth training, bible classes, youth events, adult and youth workshops, crafting and more.
We want to make young women aware of their rights and to take responsibility for their lives. We want to encourage and educate our young women to be the best they can be.
We will establish support groups for the youth and their families. Giving back to the community will be one of our main focuses. We offer training to unwed mothers and young men.
Dynamic Women's Leadership Development, Inc. Mission is to assist young women, target age group 12-22 years. We will provide opportunities to explore asset development, such as fashion design, tourism, crafts, chef, digital film making and camera skills.
