Chunnenuggee Fair - April
Sponsored by the Bullock County Historic Society, this family-oriented event is held annually on the last Saturday in April.
Begun in 1847, the town of Union Springs blocks off Prairie Street for a fun filled day of exciting games and musical entertainment. Food and lots of arts and crafts are part of the Fair.
The Chunnenuggee Fair is a modern continuation of the pre-Civil War festival that was originally hosted by the oldest horticultural society in the United States, the Chunnenuggee Garden Club.
The 19th Century Fair boasted a large exhibit of horticultural advancements of the time and the best cakes in the community. The modern fair tries to emulate the old by including a cake sale with cakes made by bakers of local renown, and sales and raffles of plants from the surrounding plant producers.
